The FERROSTRIKE 2 in 1, ferrocerium scraper is designed to maximize the amount sparks generated when scraping a ferrocerium/misch metal rod. This is accomplished in three unique ways - hardness, sharpness and leverage. When those three properties are combined, the FERROSTRIKE 2 in 1, will generate the maximum amount of spark with the least amount of energy. Also, the FERROSTRIKE 2 in 1, functions as traditional steel for flint and steel fire making.

Here’s how it works…

First, hardness: The FERROSTRIKE 2 in 1, is made of high carbon tool steel and is perfectly heat treated to around 59-61 HRC. This very high hardness is used in combination with the very sharp cutting edge to generate a mass of sparks. This high carbon steel functions as an outstanding traditional flint-steel striker.

Second, sharpness: The FERROSTRIKE 2 in 1, is perfectly machined to create four very sharp cutting edges and then hand-honed for optimal sharpness. These sharp edges are keys to properly dig-in to the rod to generate a substantial amount of sparks.

Third, leverage: The FERROSTRIKE 2 in 1, is perfectly balanced to place the maximum amount of pressure on the exact point to expel the maximum amount of sparks, stroke after stroke.

With the FERROSTRIKE 2 in 1, ALL ferro-rods are created equal, and 18th century flint and steel fire making methods are easily achieved.
