Showers of sparks!

I bought this striker to practice spark-based fire starting skills.
Having owned "authentic" flint and steel kits purchased from a museum, I was surprised by the high volume of sparks this striker produced compared to my previous set. Clearly this is a high quality piece of steel. It almost makes starting a fire too easy. As an experiment I tried striking some native quartz rocks I found, as we have no flint in my area, and I was happy to find that the quartz produced a similar amount of sparks to the supplied piece of flint, both by striking steel to quartz, and quartz to steel. Great product. Showers of hot white sparks! I highly recommend this steel for someone wanting a "sure thing" for training to make fire with flint and steel.
